‘A man stood no more than four feet from me and threw this rock which hit me on the back of the head’, Mr Amos told The Independent
A 66-year-old British man volunteering in the West Bank has been hospitalised after being attacked by a gang of gun-wielding Israeli settlers hurling rocks at him.
David Amos, a retired publishing company worker, was struck in the head by a rock as he tried to protect Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest.
He was evacuated from the area by ambulance and taken to a hospital in Nablus, where he received five stitches.
He told The Independent the group of settlers came down a hill from the direction of the Yizhar settlement towards Palestinian farmland near the village of Burin where he and two other British women. ”There were eight or nine of the settlers, all masked and they were carrying large rocks.”
Mr Amos said that the settlers fired gunshots as they approached, causing him to sit on the ground and yell to his colleagues to take cover. ”They were shouting at us ‘go’ in English and also shouting in Hebrew. A man stood no more than four feet from me and threw this rock which hit me on the back of the head. I was sitting upright and I fell over on my side and then he and two others kicked me. The women were shouting ‘we are British’ so they knew we were British before the rock was thrown.”
Mr Amos said the settlers also set fire to undergrowth. ”There was already a fire burning by the time they threw the stone at me. They set fire to more trees and undergrowth as we made our way away from the olive grove. They pursued us but they didn’t come and attack us again.” A Palestinian farmer was also wounded by stone throwing in the same incident, Mr Amos said.
Mr Amos said he would file a complaint with Israeli police even though such complaints very rarely lead to indictments. Mr Amos, a Quaker, came to the West Bank with the British group, the Olive Harvest Trust, which he says is an organisation committed to nonviolence and to protecting Palestinian olive farmers.
Palestinian eye-witnesses claimed that the group of farmers was attacked and had stones thrown at them.

MILLIONS of people will embark on the world’s biggest earthquake emergency drill tomorrow as a scientist warns a world-changing mega-tremor with the power to split up continents is "imminent".
North and South America will "split" and mega tsunamis could "strike America and Asia killing 40 million people" in an earthquake described as “imminent”, by a London-educated nuclear engineer.
It comes as millions of people across America and Canada will take part tomorrow in "the Great Shake Out" when authorities of major cities simultaneously carry out a dry-run of their emergency response to a major quake.
Ahead of the drills, Dr Mehran Keshe, who studied nuclear engineering at the University of London, released videos claiming a mega quake with the power to kill up to 20 million people on the west coast of the USA alone is on the cards.
The events are unconnected, and while there is no scientific or official support for Dr Keshe's claims some subscribers to his theories suggest his "mega quake" could happen as soon as Saturday, October 17.
Emergency drills which begin tomorrow across North America are taking place as part of the country's long-standing earthquake preparations.
In California, officials believe there is a 99% chance there will be a 6.5magnitude or higher quake in the next 30 years - the so called Big One.
Iranian-born Dr Keshe, who runs the Keshe Foundation, claims a series of quakes between 6 and 8.3 magnitude in the last month were the beginning of the mega quake, which he claims could come any time between now and next autumn.

For decades, Israel has been searching for oil in its own lands, with the hope of gaining energy independence. Recent reports from Genie, a US oil-exploration company, suggest oil has been found in Israel. Lots of it.
The oil is actually in the Golan Heights, which was taken by Israel, from Syria, in the 1967 war. The ownership of the area is still contested. (Haaretz: “Genie Confirms Report of Possible Big Golan Oil Find,” Oct 11, 2015)
However, given the current war in Syria and the massive chaos there, Syria would certainly be less likely to challenge Israel’s oil claim with meaningful force. Is the Syrian-war escalation in part an effort to pave the way for Israeli oil?
If the initial celebratory announcements about how much oil is under the ground, in Golan, are correct, Israel could be looking at a long-sought, massive upswing in its domestic energy capability.
That’s not all. Genie, the US company that is doing the drilling-exploration in Golan, has some very interesting characters on its strategic advisory board—men who can exert influence on all sorts of geo-political operations...
Exactly how long ago did the Genie people actually know there was oil under the Golan? Did they delay their announcement, to make it seem as if the Syrian escalation was just an unrelated coincidence?
Depending on the size of the oil find under the Golan, the whole configuration of oil-control in the Middle East could be affected. Who has it, who owns it, who sells it, who buys it, and who sets the price.
Israel’s apparent long-term plan to weaken and disable nations in the Middle East, including Syria, could certainly raise the price of oil from that region, making it cost-effective to bring up all the oil under Golan—however many barrels that turns out to be.

Some Israeli officials hope to force the U.S., and therefore the world community, to accept the illegal settlement expansions in order to mollify their displeasure over the Iran deal.
Israel is taking advantage of the chaos in Syria to expand its illegal settlements in the Golan Heights, just as new oil reserves were discovered in the contested region. Israel took control of the Golan Heights region, 460 square miles near the border with Syria, after the Six Days War in 1967. Israel soon began building settlements in the occupied region, displacing previous occupants, including the native Druze ethnic group. The Heights were officially ANNEXED by Israel in 1981, and the expansion of occupation continues despite international opposition and multiple U.N. resolutions opposed to the growing settlements.
Now, Israel hopes to quintuple the size of its settlements over the next five years by adding an additional 100,000 settlers to the region. The plan was proposed by Naftali Bennett, a senior Israeli minister and member of the right-wing Jewish Home party, and, according to a report from The New York Times last week, Bennett is just one of “many Israeli leaders and thinkers seizing on the chaos in Syria to solidify Israel’s hold on the Golan.”
The proposal comes after months of fortification of the region by Israeli forces, alongside intensive exploration of the region’s energy reserves. Heather Hartlaub, a co-editor at Muftah, an independent news site dedicated to spreading English-language news of the Middle East, noted:
“Just two years ago, Israeli military engineers overhauled the forty-five mile border fence with Syria and replaced it with a steel barricade that includes barbed wire, touch sensors, motion detectors, infrared cameras, and ground radar, putting it on par with the Wall Israel has constructed in the West Bank.”
Major fossil fuel companies with both American and Israeli investors have also been pouring big money into the region. Afek Oil and Gas Company, a division of New Jersey-based Genie Energy, whose investors include some of the world’s richest moguls like Dick Cheney, Rupert Murdoch, and Jacob Rothschild, has a three-year contract to explore the Golan Heights for oil.

The United Nations and much of the global community still consider the land part of Syria, and Israel’s occupation of it to be illegal. The Times noted that Bennett and other, unnamed Israeli officials “say that international — or, at least, American — recognition of Israel’s 1981 annexation of the Golan would be an appropriate salve to Israeli security concerns in the wake of the nuclear deal with Iran.”
With the situation in Syria growing ever more unstable — instability that is actively supported by Israel and its Western allies who hope to control the region — even the local Druze population is beginning to despair of ever regaining their home, according to representatives interviewed by The Times:
“‘These hopes are less and less and maybe became quite to zero,’ said Qasem Sabbagh, a restaurant owner in the Druse capital, Majdal Shams. A longtime activist, Mr. Sabbagh said he had been ‘less active in the past years, because there is no politics here, there is a war only.’”

The former head of the Israeli intelligence service "Nativ" Jakob Kedmi in the beginning of Maidan, in a calm and witty manner, predicted what it would come to. And his guess was correct. What are his predictions now?
"If the plans of Moscow and Damascus are successfully implemented, it would increase Russia's prestige in Europe and in the world", — believes Kedmi. "And then any move of Russia to support Donbass would be more efficient and would be interpreted in a different way. After solving the Syrian problem, the problem of Donbass and the regime of Poroshenko would remain. Both Russia and Europe are hoping that this problem could be solved without military actions. How true it could be will depend on the internal situation in Ukraine".
Kedmi says that the weakness of Poroshenko’s regime is obvious. In Ukraine, as in Syria, there are similar armed gangs that try to destabilize the situation. Kedmi has outlines two scenarios of the Ukrainian crisis.
"Slow decay of the regime in Ukraine and the continuation of economic catastrophe would lead to internal changes and the change of power in the right direction, that is, the recognition of the two Donbass republics," — says the analyst. "The critical point will be the elections enshrined in the Minsk Agreement. Then the whole Europe would have to recognize Lugansk and Donetsk as legitimate political entities. This recognition would be followed by the destabilization of the Ukrainian regime, otherwise — the failure of Minsk".
"And the failure of Minsk seriously raises the possibility of military action", - says Kedmi.
"Considering a strong position of Russia in Syria, if there is progress there, it will reduce the desire of those who are behind the regime of Poroshenko to confront Russia’s support of Novorossia in Ukraine. This would definitely cool down their zeal. One way or another, but it is not in favor of Poroshenko and Maidan authorities. One wishes there would be no human toll".
"The situation might not be changing as fast as the residents of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kharkiv and Odessa would like, but it is going in the right direction", - says Kedmi.

Let’s not mince words. Israel is a fascist police state, masquerading as a democracy. How can it be otherwise when state terror is official policy, when soldiers, police and Zionist zealots brutalize and murder Palestinians unaccountably, and when institutionalized apartheid exceeds the worst done by the old South African regime.
Palestine is a free-fire zone, unsafe to live in for Arabs. Israeli security forces rampage with impunity, licensed to kill at their discretion, taking full advantage, rewarded for shocking brutality.
In the last five days alone, three Palestinian youths were gunned down in cold blood, two aged 13. Another 500 were injured, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
It declared a state of emergency in the West Bank and East Jerusalem following days of Israeli violence in Occupied Palestine — an endless pogrom of racist hate, violence, mass arrests and cold-blooded murders.
Israel enforces vicious occupation harshness, waging war on an entire population. Since last week, dozens of Palestinians were shot with live fire. Numerous others were physically assaulted.
Tensions were high following Israeli soldiers and police desecrating the Al-Aqsa Mosque (Islam’s third holiest site) multiple times in recent days – damaging it deliberately, brutalizing peaceful worshipers and making numerous arrests.
Abused Palestinians responded justifiably to provocative Israeli tear gas, rubber bullets, live fire, beatings and other forms of abuse, using stones and empty bottles – hardly a fair fight.
PCHR said over 170 Palestinians were wounded or killed by “live bullets and shrapnel in Jerusalem.” Israeli collective punishment policy willfully targets defenseless civilians.
World leaders able to stop these horrors do nothing more than urge both sides to “show restraint” – effectively condoning Israeli violence.
Netanyahu is a fascist thug, calling legitimate Palestinian resistance terrorism, vowing no letup in extreme police state violence.

80 percent of Americans support these killers.
